Assistance to Fire Fighter's Grant
Martindale Fire Department received their Assistance to Fire Fighter grant in early 2009.  With the funds the Fire Department was able to purchase their first new Engine.  The new apparatus boasts a 1250 gallon per minute pump, 300 horse power diesel engine and holds over 1,000 gallons of water.  The new truck, referred to as Engine 61, has begun to server the community and has been spotted on several calls.  Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this Engine a reality!
ESD is the Future of Fire Protection in Texas
In 2007, the State Legislature approved Emergency Service Districts (ESD's) as the grassroots organization to create, fund and organize fire protection in the rural areas of Texas. ESD's are are special districts formed by the citizens through an election and are overseen locally, just like a school districts.  Martindale Fire Department is looking forward to working with Martindale City and Community leaders to develop long-term funding and oversight solutions through an ESD.   For more information on ESD's visit the Office of Rural Community Affairs.

Thank you to our community and all our supporters!
